An International Driving Permit (IDP), often searched as an “international driving licence,” is issued to an eligible applicant who holds a valid Indian driving licence and is resident in India. It is intended for use together with the valid domestic licence, passport and any documents required by the destination country.

An IDP does not guarantee that you may rent or drive every vehicle abroad. Destination-country law, visa status, minimum age, rental-company policy and insurance rules still apply.
