LMV Driving Licence in India: Meaning and Application Process

LMV means Light Motor Vehicle. On a driving licence, the authorised class and any transport/non-transport endorsement determine what the holder may legally drive. An LMV entry should not be treated as permission for every vehicle with four wheels or for every commercial use.

A first-time applicant normally completes the learner's licence stage before applying for a permanent LMV licence and taking the driving test.
